Knorr Master of Seasoning 2017 came to a close in Dubai at the end of a September with a thrilling three-round final competition that saw Chef Ahmed Fatheen, Senior Sous Chef at Bandos Maldives, crowned the winner.

Chef Fatheen edged ahead the other six finalists during the Deli Perfection, Seafood Appetizer and Main Meat Course rounds. He received the highest overall score from the judges who included UFS chefs Jean van der WesthuizenDavid El Bitar and Marc Hayes, and Chef Paul Hage, Director of Culinary at Al Habtoor Group.

The competition was a great end to what was an exciting and instructive week for the final seven chefs from the Gulf, Egypt, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. They enjoyed several masterclasses on everything from culinary techniques to budgeting, and got to meet many leading chefs working in the UAE.

Winner Chef Fatheen perfectly summed up just how valuable the experience had been for the chefs saying:

“I learnt many new techniques which will undoubtedly be great assets to my career

going forward.

This competition gave me another boost of motivation and the confidence to push my

own limits and to go further in this field.”

With over 550 recipes submitted during the initial entry process, Knorr Master of Seasoning certainly achieved its goal of inspiring culinary creativity and highlighting how seasoning is at the heart of sensational dishes.
